We will continue to qualify major versions (6.0, 7.0, etc.) of REAPER for this purpose. Reaper Discounted Vs Commercial Software Has BeenIn parallel, development of the Tracks Live multitrack recording software has been discontinued. ![]() On newer systems, REAPER 6.0 is now the qualified live recording software to use with SoundGrid. Kind of a moot point for me personally, as I just record straight to Logic Pro X these days, saves having to move the tracks later. I could have recorded to PT or reaper but recording to track is so much simpler. Guess Ill get downloading reaper level 2 18 points 8 months ago Well that is also the cool thing about REAPER, it has the highest stability and functionality of any DAW while at the same time it uses the least amount of computer resources. It might be because Im reading processor speed for disk IO by recording straight to wavpack format with Reaper, which is not possible with Tracks AFAIK. I use Logic Pro X for live and studio recordings because I know it well, and I generally dont have any issues so long as the Logic session sample rate matches whats coming in from the desk audio network. At the time I was doing 32 tracks for sometimes 5 hours at a stretch which I discovered most DAWs are not up for. Assuming it doesnt crash, you have to be careful of what kind of file the DAW is writing to, some formats have file size limitations, which limits the record time. ![]() If you earn less than 10k you pay only 60 dollars and use the licence on as many of your own machines as you want. Dont get me wrong. If you use this professionally you should absolutely pay the fee. Ive moved to direct SD card recording for live stuff but Waves was by far the best and most stable way to do live shit if you needed to record very long sessions. Every other DAW Ive used either had hiccups or straight up crashed when recording mutli-hour stuff.
